Seplat Energy Plc has reached a key milestone in advancing Nigeria’s gas sector by installing over 850 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas infrastructure to strengthen domestic supply.

During a press briefing, Seplat’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Samson Ezugworie, highlighted that the development aligns with the company’s mission to reduce energy poverty and support sustainable national growth, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“We’ve installed over 850 MMscfd of gas infrastructure across Nigeria to meet domestic demand,” Ezugworie stated.

He added that this figure excludes the gas potential from assets acquired through the company’s recent transaction with Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU).

“With the MPNU deal, we plan to tap into vast gas reserves and channel them toward powering more homes and industries,” he said.

Ezugworie reaffirmed that Seplat’s long-term operations prioritize sustainability and adhere to strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

“Creating a sustainable business requires vision, even if its full impact isn’t immediate,” he emphasized.

He also pointed out that Seplat’s talent development strategy plays a vital role in its growth. The company recently recruited 50 graduates through its development program, who are now receiving extensive training across departments.

“This effort shows our commitment to building a future-ready leadership and skilled workforce,” he explained.

Seplat is also driving innovation in Nigeria’s gas sector through its structured End of Routine Flaring (EORF) roadmap. The company is investing in key infrastructure to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency.

Ezugworie spotlighted the Sapele Integrated Gas Plant as a central component of this plan. The first module is already online and producing gas, with full capacity expected by 2025.

“Once fully operational, the plant will significantly reduce our Scope 1 emissions,” he concluded.
